"I am a west coaster, born in San Francisco, CA. I grew up in the Valley, Eureka, CA and
Portland, OR. All three are still my home.
I have always been an artist. My father is a carpenter and builds telescopes. My mother is a
nurse who has always made my doll clothes and refinished her own furniture. I was taught to
crochet and sew before age 10. By fifteen I had a small business with a friend and we made
beaded dreamcatchers and peyote stitch purses, etc.
My introduction to glass was in high school. I took a night class making stained glass
projects. The stained glass hobby and jewelry making, with the same partner, lasted many years.
Eventually, we became vendors at the Portland Saturday Market in 1998. One year later, I invested
in a retail store. My new partner and I met a network of glassblowers in the Portland area.
I took on glassworking full time after five years of retailing my creations. I feel like I
have had a unique opportunity in learning this way. It has allowed me to practice in many
techniques. I am so thrilled to be learning more everyday."
