The Family:
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read about the people behind the business. My name is
Ralph Harmon and I started the business in the year 2000. Glasswurx.com is a true family
business. I maintain the web site, sales, and customer support. My parents, Ken and Ann, help
part time with the accounting, and my wife, Nichole, helps part time with the digital imaging and support.
How It All Began:
I have been working with computers since I was a teenager. While attending college, I took
specialized courses in Web Design and Development. It was also my hobby, so I spent countless
hours studying many of the programming languages that help bring more functionality to the
web sites we all use today.
After college and a few years of doing contract web development work I was presented with the
opportunity to make a web site for a glass artist who makes marbles. Since I had been collecting
marbles for quite awhile and my zeal for contract work was fading, I thought it would be a
great opportunity for me to create my own business representing art glass marbles. I couldn't
imagine anything more perfect than being able to incorporate my two passions, art glass marbles
and web development.
My parents, who were also marble collectors, thought the business was a great idea. Both of them
had been retired for some time and they decided that they would like to help with the accounting.
They also helped with many of the major obstacles involved with getting a business off the ground.
I couldn't have done it without them. Thank you Mom and Dad! :-)
Forward To Today:
Today Glasswurx.com represents over 40 of the worlds top marble artists. We sell thousands of
marbles every year and take great pride in the fact that we can help artists by funding their
wonderful creativity while improving our customers art glass marble collections. We also have
plans to expand the business in 2006 by carrying art glass beads, paperweights, and murrine.
Before I go, I would also like to mention that the Glasswurx Family received a new member in
late 2004. I was lucky enough to meet a beautiful, intelligent, vivacious lady named Nichole
who is now my wife. Nichole helps me stay motivated and keeps me in line. I have always
been a dreamer and her nack for realism is just the grounding I need. She has already helped
this business in many ways and I hope that one day she can leave her "9 to 5 job" and work
with Glasswurx full time.
